The National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC) Appreciate Nite and Awards Ceremony was held yesterday evening at the Furama Riverfront Hotel.
Graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr S Iswaran, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry, the event acknowledges the support and contributions made by the council’s corporate supporters, partners and retired board members towards promoting fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Three categories of awards were given out during the event to recognise organisations for attaining high standards in fire safety and emergency preparedness:
The Fire Safety Award / Fire Safety Excellence Award
The biennial Fire Safety Award is presented by the NFEC and supported by the SCDF. Presented to organisations in recognition of their commitment to fire safety, this award serves to inculcate greater awareness on fire safety in buildings and also recognises organisations for their commitments to fire safety. Organisations that have performed exceptionally well are awarded the Fire Safety Excellence Award.
There were a total of 88 Fire Safety Award winners of which 45 out of 88 award recipients received the Fire Safety Excellence Award
The National Civil Emergency Preparedness (NCEP) Award
The inaugural NCEP award serves to value-add and enhance community Emergency Preparedness across the residential heartlands by getting Singaporeans to take ownership in preparing themselves and their families for emergencies. The award also provides a basic framework for Grassroots Organisations and Community Partners to undertake tangible actions to ensure the safety and security of their estates. Under the three-tier NCEP award, namely gold, silver and bronze, every participating constituency will be evaluated on three categories - ‘Community Participation’, ‘Readiness for Emergencies’ and ‘Network and Collaboration’.
There were a total of 5 Gold Award, 27 Silver Award and 55 Bronze Award recipients for the NCEP Award.
The CD Ready Schools Award
The inaugural CD Ready School Award aims to recognise schools that have raised the level of EP above and beyond the basic CD Ready School certification level. The award recognises school leaders and School Safety Committee who have taken ownership in the school to initiate safety checks and safety programmes for the school.
5 Secondary Schools and 7 Primary Schools received the CD Ready Schools Award.
